John and Marie’s home

Let John and Marie be your hosts and guide to Winchester. John, a guide book writer enjoys meeting all our guests. John’s wife Marie is French. Their home once belonged to Sir Alec Guinness. House is non-smoking. A short walk away are the river Itchen, the cathedral, great pubs and restaurants, museums, shops and walks.

Our Rooms

Three rooms available:

  • Yellow room, a large double bed room with outstanding view of Wolvesey Castle. Very quiet. Very modern wash unit. Digital TV and DVD player. A great selection of books including special selections on Jane Austen and Alec Guinness.
  • Blue room, comfortable double bed room overlooking quiet garden. Very modern wash unit.

  • Green room. A single room upstairs with a view overlooking our quiet garden. TV and coffee/tea making facilities.

(All rooms available as singles)

One shared bathroom

What a breakfast!

Enjoy a great start to the day with cold orange juice and fresh coffee or tea and a superb traditional 'English' breakfast. Let us know if you would like to start with porridge or prefer scrambled or poached eggs. Finish off with local jams and honeys from the outstanding Winchester Farmers Market..The day's newspaper is even there on the table. Enjoy meeting other visitors staying with us, or chat to John about Winchester, or amusing tales from his six years of being a host..
