Getting here by walking

Some of our guests come to Winchester on foot for Winchester and its countryside is a great centre for enjoying the open air. The city is the western end of the South Downs Way, one of the few long distance routes planned for walkers, horse riders and cyclists. Winchester is 99 miles from the other end, Eastbourne and the B&B is an excellent place to chill out and rest weary muscles.

There is an amazing variety of long distance walks which start or end in the city, so whether you start from east west, north or south there are ways to walk here - just as pilgrims made their way here a thousand years ago to the shrine of St Swithun.
